Hi friends, how are you today? I’m great and I have to tell you I’ve been playing with a lot of glitter lately….but it’s been fun. Today I’m sharing some fun and festive Glittery Birdhouse Ornaments you can make for your tree.
I made two different kinds of birdhouse ornaments for my tree. If you’re new here this is our small 4 foot tree that is in our dining room and we have a bigger Red and White festive tree in our Living room and I’ll share a lot of pictures of that next week but if you need a sneak peek it’s on there is one on my Christmas Wreath Ice Skate post from yesterday.
If you’ve been following along I found 4 little bird houses at a Thrift Store for $.95 cents each and they were new and unpainted and I shared them on Tuesday Treasures here.
I also thought I would be fun to make some music note paper bird house ornaments and embellish them.
I painted them all white and tan and on this one I added the music note paper to the top with lots of glitter.
I made these with construction paper, music note paper and some crystals I had and I have a tutorial below which is super easy.
I love the grooves in this guy and thought it would be fun to add glitter in that stripe pattern.
Here’s one of the smaller ones and today my husband announced that there is glitter all over the house so I need to keep on sweeping and mopping….lol. I told him he needs to bear with me through the holidays.
I do a lot of my work in the dining room so this is the beautiful view I have and I LOVE it. I also have a view of my mantel and I’m sharing that tomorrow so you have to come on back.
I’ve never had a neutral tree and I really do love it. I honestly did this on such a budget. I found this new faux tree at a thrift store for $10 but you can get them new at Target or Kmart for $20-$25. I made the Burlap Poinsettia flowers and share those here. I bought the glittery JOY, Deer and Trees at the Dollar Tree and the white snowflakes at Target. You can decorate your tree beautifully with things you love and a little paper, fabric and glitter goes a long way right. HA!!!
As I was leaving to run to pick up my daughter I found our sweet kitty Chloe snuggled in and taking her nap. They play under our big tree but I giggled when I saw her here.
Now if you want to see the step by step tutorial here you go and if not then just scroll to the bottom because I have some other fun things to share.
For the wooden Glittery Birdhouse Ornaments I painted them all white first with craft paint and did 2 coats.
I love music not pages so I thought it would be fun to use some of this on the houses.
I used tea to tea dye the paper just to give it a little bit of an aged look. You don’t want to leave it in here too long or the paper will tear apart. Then I put the paper on paper towels to dry.
I used mod podge and glued it to the tops of some of the houses.
Then I used mod podge and a q-tip and added glue to certain places on the houses and then added silver and gold glitter to them.
To make the other Glittery Birdhouse ornaments here’s what I did.
I used mod podge to glue the music note pages to thick construction paper.
I then drew two different bird houses and cut them out to use as a stencil.
Then I cut them out like this. I then used a q-tip and added the glue around the edges and then poured glitter on them.
Then I remembered I had some crystals on this melted candle thing I ruined a while back and I knew they would come in handy someday.
I punched holes in the top and bottom and added the crystals and some twine.
Not perfect in any way but perfect for our tree and when the light hits the glitter ……so pretty.
Let me know what you think? Do you make any of your own ornaments?
