Hi Friends how are you today? I hope great and that you are enjoying the season. I’m so excited to share our Holiday Home Tour with you today. I am honored to be a part of this wonderful group or women, bloggers and friends (24) that are opening up their homes and showing you how they decorate during the holiday season. So grab your coffee or favorite drink and settle in because I took loads of pictures…lol.
Here is a sneak peek of what I’ve been up to.
This is my 2nd holiday season as a blogger and I was telling a friend that in the old days you just pulled out your Christmas stuff and put it out exactly where you put it the previous year, but now I have challenged myself to use my Christmas décor, add some new (on my very small budget) and decorate with it so that it looks totally new and different…..lol.
Here we go!
Welcome to our 1922 Cottage. When you enter our home in the Living Room you are greeted by our bright and cheery Tree.
I love and have collected Red and White Christmas Ornaments over the years and LOVE them. This is a new tree that I bought at Michaels on Black Friday and was so happy to save $130 on it. This was the first time I ever went out on Black Friday and very well worth it.
If you know me you know I love gift wrapping and unfortunately this is just the beginning and I still have a lot of wrapping to do.
Our kitties LOVE to sleep and get cozy under or near the tree and here we have Oreo relaxing. He is really good about not messing with things but just resting under it. Up on the chair next to him is his sister Chloe and she was caught mid yawn here. She loves to snuggle under the small tree in the Dining Room and you’ll see her doing that later.
I love to look for ornaments after Christmas when they are 50-75% off and then stash them away for the next year.
I love to add bows and beaded garland to make it extra festive too.
I took pictures both at night and during the day so you could see how it looks when things are a glow.
I changed up our mantel this year and went with a Snowy Christmas Mantel theme and you can see more of that here.
I made the Chalkboard like sign with a Dollar Store Foam Board and white craft paint to look like chalk.
The snowflakes are also from the Dollar Store, the greenery for the garland is from my tree right out front and I also made the snowballs which you can learn how on the Snowy Christmas Mantel post too.
We are big animal lovers and here is Chloe snuggling now on the back of the couch. I put blankets there so when the kitties want to sleep they can.
We also have two dogs Coco and Roxie (not pictured) and Coco wanted to be in the action so she’s resting on her bed and wouldn’t cooperate with a better picture but we adore her and have adopted all our animals. They are loves.
I found those Deck the Halls red boxes years ago out Outdoor Living when it was in business on an after Christmas Sale and they were 75% off and I adore them. The little rustic foot stool was a thrift store find for $5 and it’s nice to put your feet up on it.
Here you can see the other side of the room and when we have company we pull the wing chairs closer to the couch to create a cozier sitting area. The mirrored closets and desk is my work space where I do a lot of my online business.
These wing chairs were Craig’s lists finds years ago and I still love them.
This ottoman was an Ugly $2 thrift store find and I made the slip cover for it in red and white and blue and white striped fabric and it’s perfect for the red holidays like Christmas, Valentines and 4th of July.
Sometimes it’s nice to have a little holiday cheer especially if you’re having gatherings. I shared this Elf Christmas Cocktail the other day and it’s sure to put you in a happy mood.
Our Living Room leads right into our Dining Room and our Dining Room set was a Craig’s list find and I just LOVE it.
We are a family of four so I set our table for us and did it fun and festive. I made the Pottery Barn Inspired red n white stripe monogram napkins last year and you can see them here.
I love fresh flowers and can’t always buy them as often as I’d like but while I was shopping in our Ralphs they had bunches of these marked $4.99 and that was just perfect for me. Keep your eyes out for flower sales friends.
I found these darling Victorian like ornaments in a big bag for $1.95 at a thrift store a few months ago and stashed them away. I hung some from our chandelier and put some in the bowl on the table.
During the day, I do a lot of my work, typing and editing sitting at the dining room table so you can see my view of our smaller tree and our mantel from right where I sit.
I had to dim the lights to show you how pretty it is in here and I just LOVE the glow from that little tree.
We have French doors that lead out to a little side porch that you see from our driveway. I made the Christmas Wreath with Ice Skates (and you can see that here) and am enjoying it inside right now because rain is on the way.
I have been really enjoying having the little tree in our dining room as well as our big tree too. I had been wanting to do a neutral tree so this was the perfect way to get started.
Chloe LOVES to snuggle and sleep under this little tree.
You can add glitter to just about anything and have it look fabulous. The music note ornaments were literally made with construction paper, music note paper, glue and glitter and they add a lot of bling.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in here.
Every night I try to come in here and sit and watch tv, or listen to Christmas music with the fire. It’s my Happy Place for sure.
These Bamboo Candle Holders were very easy to make too and you can see them here. I made them for my hubs 50th Birthday Party in the summer and thought they would be great to use in here to add that neutral rustic charm. I glued the reed onto Dollar Store Vases and voila.
We’re heading to my kitchen in the next couple days and you have to see what I’ve been collecting and decorating with.
And we’re heading out to the porch to see all the outdoor Holiday Décor so come on back soon.
I hope you enjoyed our Holiday Home Tour. I’d love to hear your thoughts and ideas below too.
Now my friends are also sharing their Holiday Home Tours so before you go please go on over and see how they decorated their homes for the holidays.
If you want to see how I decorated our home last year you’ll want to see our Holiday House Tour here along with our Holiday House tour of our kitchen here and our Holiday House Tour part 3 here. These were our home in 2013 and it really tried to change things up, make them look fresh and new and add some homemade love too.
